President
“Public speaking has always been a skill I aspired to master knowing it would boost my confidence, enhance my communication, and open doors in both my personal and professional life. When I joined Maidenhead Speakers, I was looking for a place to learn. What I found was so much more.
Toastmasters has helped me confront one of my biggest fears: the fear of speaking up, of being seen, of not being enough. And through that process, I’ve discovered something powerful that is fear is often the biggest reason we don’t chase our dreams. But when we face it, even in small steps, everything begins to shift.
Since joining, I’ve encountered many obstacles some expected, many not. But each challenge has been a stepping stone. I’ve grown not just as a speaker, but as a listener, a leader, and a mentor. And I’ve had the privilege of watching others grow too from nervous newcomers to confident, compelling communicators.
What makes Maidenhead Speakers truly special is the people. We are a community of like-minded individuals who celebrate each other’s wins, support each other through setbacks, and grow together. That shared journey means everything to me.”

Julia V.Hij
Sergeant at Arms
“I joined Maidenhead Speakers Club, part of Toastmasters International, out of curiosity — I wanted to step into the world of public speaking, a world that once felt elusive and reserved only for a few. My goals were simple: to build confidence and to learn how to deliver engaging, impactful speeches and presentations.
What I discovered at Maidenhead Speakers Club was a truly supportive environment where we all grow — not just as speakers, but as listeners, evaluators, leaders, and communicators. The club nurtures confidence, respect, encouragement, and genuine friendship, all held together by shared values and mindsets.
After a year with the club, I can see how much I’ve grown. I feel more confident when presenting at work, more composed during interviews, and much quicker on my feet — thanks to the regular practice of impromptu speaking at our meetings.
As the club’s Sergeant at Arms, it’s my pleasure to prepare the meeting room and set the tone for the evening. I begin each session with a warm welcome, a few light-hearted housekeeping notes, and an open invitation to enjoy, learn, and develop together.
Every meeting begins with the Sergeant at Arms — and I’d love for you to experience it for yourself. Come along, join us, and see how Toastmasters can help you find your voice, just as it helped me find mine.”
Zeshan Ahmed
Vice President Public Relations (VPPR)
“Maidenhead Speakers has been an important part of my journey. I joined this club over a year ago to improve my public speaking and gain confidence in my speech as a stammerer. This club and Toastmasters have played a significant role in my life and career, allowing me to speak freely without worrying about my stutter.
Now I have joined the committee as a VPPR to help the club reach a wider audience and bring it to the attention of others. Having a strong background in Web Development, this role is a perfect fit for me to contribute back to the community that has helped me grow and gain confidence.”

Marie
Vice President Education (VPE)
“I joined Toastmasters to become a more confident speaker while learning in a supportive and encouraging environment. I’m excited to meet people who are passionate about growth, and I hope to inspire others as much as I learn from them. I’m also serving as VP of Education, which gives me the chance to help fellow members achieve their goals while helping the club grow. I really look forward to sharing my journey, celebrating everyone else’s progress, and being part of this amazing community!”

“Toastmasters is such a simple idea and it works. I’ve been a Toastmaster for over 20 years and I’ve seen so many of our members learn how to improve their public speaking skills, and become more effective, confident and entertaining speakers. The skills we promote in Toastmasters are invaluable in any career and will allow you to stand out from the crowd. It’s a joy to see members grow and develop as speakers and that’s why I continue to enjoy our Toastmaster meetings. We’re a diverse club and it’s endlessly fascinating listening to our member’s stories and speeches.”
