Tom Hostetler

President

Toastmasters is an experience that I should have tried 30 years earlier. The practice and experience we get on the stage is exceptional.   I spoke and presented regularly to work groups most of my career, but I always felt my delivery was pretty flat and that I could do better. Then as home working became the norm, I lost the opportunity to speak in front of people. After a while, I didn’t want to do it anymore and avoided opportunities. Since joining the Maidenhead Speakers Club in 2015, I’ve regained my confidence, and continue my journey and have fun doing it.

It also gave me the opportunity to finally get out of my shell and start to become comfortable on the stage.  The support is amazing.

Angela Preston

Vice President Education (VPE)

I have been a member of Maidenhead Speakers for four years and I joined Toastmasters to gain more confidence for work meetings and presentations.

Toastmasters has helped me to increase my confidence in public speaking and thinking on my feet to answer questions. So instead of dreading having to speak in public, I can now feel more relaxed and in control.

As VP Education I am responsible for the club schedule and education programme.

Kam Bains

Vice President Public Relations (VPPR)

Sergeant at Arms (SAA)

I joined Toastmasters in 2021 during lockdown. I wanted to improve my public speaking and leadership skills.

Maidenhead Speakers is a very friendly club and a safe place to practice. I have learnt so much in a short space of time and I am constantly challenging myself.

I currently have a dual role as Sergeant at Arms and the VP of Public Relations. As Sergeant at Arms I am responsible for opening the meeting, whereas the VPPR’s role is to the publicise the club, oversee the club website and protect the Toastmasters brand.

Megha Shah

Club Secretary

I have been a member of Maidenhead Speakers for just over two years. I joined Toastmasters to improve my presentation skills and make new friends.

Toastmasters has helped me increase my impact during meetings and presentations both in front of an audience and online. I am quite fond of the table topics section of meetings which has helped me develop quick thinking and create structured speeches when put on the spot.

To me the club provides a wonderful and supportive environment to try out new things and learn from my fellow members.
As a club secretary, I assist the club committee activities.

Clayton Baxter

Treasurer

As the club’s accountant, I record and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial club records. I also collect and submit membership and renewal dues.
